HSC examinees happy on first day on exam | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Matriculation examinees appearing for the first language papers on the first day of the annual board examination on Friday expressed satisfaction with the examination, describing it as “easy and smooth”.
Priyanka Jena, an examinee, shared her experience. “Though I was initially nervous, the paper went very well. I managed to attempt almost all questions and hope to secure good marks despite the traditionally strict evaluation of first language papers,” she said.
The matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) that started on Friday was conducted successfully across Odisha, with over 5.12 lakh students appearing for their first language papers under enhanced security measures and surveillance.
The examination was conducted across 3,029 centres in all the 30 districts of the state. Students on the first day appeared for various first language papers, including Odia, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, and English.
“It was indeed a great start to the exam. I appeared for the Odia language. I was well prepared for the paper and was nervous too. It is natural. I hope I will get good marks in the paper,” said Ankit Acharya, a student appearing for the exam at Capital High School here.
The BSE, in the meantime, implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure the fair conduct of the examinations. Altogether 314 nodal centres were established statewide, with all examination venues placed under CCTV surveillance.
The board also deployed AI-enabled cameras at both exam venues and nodal centres for stringent monitoring. To prevent malpractices, the Board instituted a four-tier squad system and established a control room at its headquarters for real-time monitoring through live streaming.
However, the day was not without incidents. In Kendrapada, 11 students sustained injuries in an accident while en route to their examination centre. In a separate incident, a student in Balasore district died tragically due to illness shortly before the exam was scheduled.
The matriculation examinations, crucial for students’ academic progression, will continue as per the board’s schedule up to March 6. The BSE’s enhanced security measures resulted in an error-free conduct of the examination on Friday.
The board officials expressed satisfaction with the overall proceedings and assured continued vigilance throughout the examination period to maintain the highest standards of fairness and transparency.
