Hotspots to ring in New Year | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: With 2024 coming to an end, Patnaites are exploring destinations for New Year celebrations. Popular places across the city are expected to be bustling with enthusiastic visitors, offering excellent settings for joyful gatherings with loved ones. The TOI highlights six hotspots that are pocket-friendly and good places for entertainment.
Marine Drive: The JP Ganga Path near Digha Ghat has become the most sought-after tourist place, where people can stroll along the scenic view of the Ganga river.From delicious street foods to adventurous water rides, there are many options for all age groups to enjoy the day under the open sky. Water rides like speedboats, jet attacks, and motorboats are available for which one has to pay anywhere between Rs 200 to Rs 450 per person. A rescue boat is also deployed in case of emergency.
Patna Zoo: The city zoo has more than 93 species and 1,200 animals. The recently inaugurated water park area, comprising 13 different types of waterfalls, has become a hotspot for visitors, from where people cannot leave without taking photos. Although boating in the lake will not be open to the public on January 1, people can still enjoy the view and relish the delicacies at the cafeteria near the lake. The nature library in the botanical section will be another attraction for the visitors.
Eco Park: Spread over 22 acres of land, the park has a garden area, play zone for kids, pond, boating facilities, open-air gym and cafeteria. It offers an eco-friendly way to keep rolling with the skates in the ring at gate number 3. Visitors can also enjoy other fun activities like zorbing, boating, cycling, zip line, trampoline, rope course setup, and rope climbing at the park.
Taramandal: The renovated planetarium will be the perfect place for astronomy lovers, who can also enjoy the gallery dedicated to space and astronomy. Of the eight 3D shows slated for January 1, four of them are already housefull, said the officials. A few seats are available in the morning and evening shows, which are also expected to be booked, they added. Altogether, 200 people can watch the 20-minute-long show by paying Rs 100 per person.
Cruise ride: People can enjoy the cruise ride on the Ganga river. Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has three boats: ‘Swami MV Paramhans’, ‘MV Ganga Vihar’ and ‘MV Kautilya’. MV Paramhans, which starts from Janardan Ghat and goes up to Nasriganj, will offer snacks, beverages, and DJ music on January 1, and one has to pay Rs 500. It has the capacity to accommodate 250-300 people. Similarly, people have to pay Rs 210 for MV Ganga Vihar, which starts from Gandhi Ghat, and Rs 150 for MV Kautilya.
Bihar Museum: The museum is also one of the best places to explore on New Year for art lovers. It houses an extensive collection of historical artefacts dating back to 1764, showcasing the earliest civilisations. It also features the best examples of traditional, folk and contemporary art forms. One of the gallery’s most prized exhibits is the Didarganj Yakshi, a masterpiece sculpted from Chunar sandstone during the Mauryan period, which is kept in the history art gallery.
