Patna: As the mercury is setting new records every day, the demand for cooling appliances, including air-conditioner, cooler and refrigerator is skyrocketing in the capital. Shopkeepers claimed that the surge in sales this year is extraordinary, surpassing all the previous records of summer and leaving many outlets out of stock.
General manager of a renowned electronic showroom chain, with nearly 100 outlets in Patna district, Anuj Singh said in the past 25 years, he had not witnessed such a huge demand of air-conditioners (ACs).

Anuj claimed that on an average they were selling at least 150 ACs daily from their most prominent outlet near Planetarium. “In a record of sorts, we have sold nearly 300 ACs in a day from this outlet,” said Anuj Apart from ACs, Anuj said even coolers and refrigerators were in huge demand this summer and their sales too have increased by over 60%.
Owner of an electronic item showroom on SP Verma Road, Sanjeev Khurana, too said the demand for AC has broken all the previous records. “Temperature has soared high and now we all are feeling the effect of global warming. In order to get respite from the blistering summer, people are buying ACs,” said Khurana, adding that customers have to be satisfied with whatever brand or model is available in the market.
