Heist at Jeweller’s: Gold Worth Lakhs Snatched in Rayagada | Bhubaneswar News
Koraput: Two miscreants snatched a bag containing gold ornaments worth lakhs from a jewellery shop owner in Rayagada district Monday. The incident took place around 9 am outside a showroom in Ambadola under Ambadola police limits. Police sources said the victim, Santosh Kumar Sahoo, was opening his shop when the two assailants arrived on a bike. “One of the miscreants got off the bike while the other kept the engine running. Sahoo placed the bag containing over 500 grams of gold ornaments on the floor and was busy unlocking the door,” police said. The miscreant quickly grabbed the bag and fled with his accomplice on the bike before Sahoo could react or raise an alarm. The entire incident was captured in the shop’s CCTV camera. A complaint was filed by Sahoo at the Ambadola police station, detailing the stolen valuables. “We are verifying the CCTV footage to trace the accused,” said Rashmi Senapati, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Rayagada.
