Heavy Rain: Brief Spell Of Heavy Rain In Twin Cities Brings Down Mercury | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar got much-needed relief from sweltering heat and humid conditions after heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Tuesday afternoon. The cities witnessed heavy spells of rain with strong wind speed for a brief period.
Heavy rain brought down the temperature in the capital city by over 15 degrees on Tuesday.At 1.15pm, the temperature was over 39 degrees Celsius in the city while after the rain and thundershowers, it dropped to 25. 8 degrees, sources said. The city recorded 18.2 mm rainfall within 45 minutes while Cuttack recorded 23 mm rainfall. Trees were uprooted at some places while power was disrupted for a couple of hours in the capital city during the rain.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and others.
