Heaters, geysers fly off shelves amid bone-chilling cold | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: As the cold wave intensifies, people are increasingly turning to heating equipment such as geysers, heaters and blowers to stay warm. According to sellers, the demand for these products has surged over the past few days.
Arvind Pathak, manager of a prominent showroom near Planetarium with multiple outlets across the city and state, said he recorded brisk sales of geysers. “We have been selling 30 to 40 units of geysers daily for the last three to four days. Geysers with capacities of 15 and 25 litres are particularly popular among buyers as there is only a Rs 1,000 price difference between the two,” he said. The price range for these geysers varies between Rs 8,500 and Rs 13,000. He added that smaller geysers, particularly those with a capacity of three liters and priced at Rs 4,000, are also in high demand, mainly for kitchen use.
Heaters, particularly oil heaters, are the next most sought-after item. “Oil heaters are in demand because they are energy-efficient and do not have adverse effects on health during use,” said Arvind. These heaters are priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000 and the shop has been selling 8 to 10 units daily over the past few days. “Though we also stock blowers priced at Rs 4,500, their demand is relatively low as customers are becoming increasingly health-conscious and aware of the negative impacts blowers can have,” he said.
Hot and cold air conditioners have also seen a rise in demand, though not at the same level as geysers and oil heaters. Arvind said, “These air conditioners come only in three-star ratings, meaning they are not very energy-efficient. Also, they are quite expensive, priced between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000. This makes them less appealing compared to alternatives like oil heaters, which consume much less energy.”
Meanwhile, customers are carefully considering their options. Manish, a shopper at the outlet, was browsing geysers to find the right size for his household. “I am looking for the perfect size geyser at the best price for my family of four,” he said.
