Healthcare Providers: Citizens’ Forum protest for justice and protection of healthcare providers | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Citizens’ Forum, a civil society organisation, will stage a protest on Saturday in the city, demanding justice for raped and murdered Kolkata doctor and protection for healthcare providers across the country. They will show solidarity with protesting doctors at medical colleges and hospitals.
Undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, resident doctors, and interns have been staging protests and demonstrations across the country demanding justice for the deceased woman doctor and a Central Act to protect healthcare providers.
“We want to support their cause through our demonstration and dharna at Master Canteen,” said Pradipta Nayak, convenor of Citizens’ Forum.
He said they condemn the behaviour of West Bengal police against protesting medicos. “West Bengal govt should not use force against protesting doctors. Protesting medicos have a genuine demand, and the Centre should fulfil it,” said Nayak.
The convenor said they also support the agitating medicos demand for passing of the Healthcare Services Personnel and Clinical Establishments (Prohibition of Violence and Damage to Property) Bill in Parliament immediately.
