Health supervisor held for taking bribe | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended a multi-purpose health supervisor of Mahulpatna sector, who was also in-charge of vital statistics at the community health centre in Rampur, Kalahandi, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 for issuance of a birth certificate.
The arrested health supervisor was identified as Laxmi Narayan Maharana. According to vigilance, Maharana was accepting the bribe through UPI from a complainant towards processing and issuing a birth certificate for his relative.
The vigilance, in an official statement, said it seized the mobile phone used in the financial transaction. The vigilance also confiscated the application and other materials of the birth certificate from the complainant as evidence.
“Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted at three locations of Maharana from a disproportionate assets angle,” it said.
