Health department to issue 100 million new Ayushman cards in a month: Mangal Pandey | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The state health department has set a target of issuing one crore fresh Ayushman Bharat cards within a month, minister Mangal Pandey said on Friday.
Currently, the Ayushman Bharat’s Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is providing an annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family for secondary- and tertiary-care hospitalization to around 2.92 crore people from poor and vulnerable families in the state.
While chairing a meeting with top officials, Pandey directed them to expedite the completion of rate contracts for essential medicines by July 31. Rate contracts are pending for at least 80 essential medicines despite multiple tender announcements. The health minister also asked the officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of all essential medicines in government hospitals.
The meeting also focused on strengthening the medicine supply chain, with an emphasis on harnessing the potential of the Drugs and Vaccine Distribution Management System, which promises transparency and efficiency in healthcare logistics management.
The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit, health secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, executive director of the state health committee Suharsh Bhagat and executive director of Ayush committee Anil Kumar among others.
