HCBA chief criticizes cane charging on lawyers in Gzb

Prayagraj: The president of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), Anil Tiwari on Wednesday criticized cane charging on the lawyers of district court at Ghaziabad on Tuesday at the instance of district judge, Ghaziabad. He has demanded immediate suspension of district judge, Ghaziabad.
While terming as the entire incident as ‘painful’, the president of HCBA has asked all the stakeholders to reconsider over the relationship between the bar and the bench. Talking to TOI, the president said, he would convene a general house meeting on Nov 4, when the high court re-opens after Diwali holidays, for chalking out future course of action in the wake of Ghaziabad cane charging incident.
It is relevant to mention that lawyers and baton-wielding police personal came to blows in courtroom in Ghaziabad on Tuesday (Oct 29) after the district judge called the force to remove protesting lawyers raising slogan against him over disagreement. Some of the lawyers claimed they suffered injuries as police personnel used batons on them. Police officials alleged that agitating advocates set local police outpost on fire.
