Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has halted the dumping of garbage on a one-acre private plot at BK Guda in the heart of Hyderabad. The order came after the landowner alleged that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was illegally dumping waste on his property.Justice B Vijaysen Reddy issued interim directions to both the GHMC and the municipal administration department, restraining any further dumping until further notice.The petitioner, a 66-year-old businessman from Vijayawada, claimed ownership of the 4,340 square yard plot and argued that the illegal dumping had caused a persistent foul odour and was adversely affecting the health of local residents.Following arguments presented by the petitioner’s counsel, the GHMC’s legal representative requested time to seek instructions before presenting their case.The court has scheduled the next hearing for June 6.
