Mumbai: A 60-year-old banana hawker was killed after an allegedly speeding BEST bus rammed into his handcart in Antop Hill on Monday. The bus driver, Nagesh Sabaji Rane (30), was arrested for negligent and reckless driving.
Police said the bus was on its way to the Antop Hill bus depot when it hit the cart near Sheikh Mistry Dargah Road, leaving the hawker, Dukhilal Vadul Saroj, with severe injuries to the abdomen and a thumb. He was rushed to Sion hospital, where he died over an hour later.
Police said Rane and the bus conductor, Sudhir Ramchandra Naralkar, were at the hospital. tnn
