Hyderabad: Happy Streets, an initiative by The Times of India to promote fitness, fun, and community engagement, brought Kohenur Road, opposite Inorbit Mall , to life on Sunday morning. More than 150 citizens arrived to make the most of the vehicle-free stretch and to soak in a morning packed with activities for all ages.
The day began with calm and refreshing Bodhi Yoga, as participants relaxed and meditated under the open sky. These energy levels quickly soared with Zumba instructors Deepak Maurya and Sushmita Banerjee leading an electrifying dance-fitness session. The music blared, and the crowd moved in sync, turning the road into a giant, open-air workout space.
While many swayed to the beats, others explored different activities. The Hyderabad Bicycling Club offered cycles for a quick spin around the stretch. “While I enjoyed dancing in Zumba, my wife and daughter took a tour with the bicycles,” said a participant.
For those in the mood for games, Gamology’s interactive zones kept children and adults engaged with friendly challenges.
The morning levelled up further with a flash mob performance by students from JNTUH and Dhruva College of Design, who took over the street, blending dance moves with high-energy performance that had the crowd cheering.
As the sun climbed, DJ Amjad took charge of the beats, keeping the tempo high and ensuring the participants stayed on their feet, enjoying the lively atmosphere until the very end.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police ensured a hassle-free experience, managing road closures and safety measures to let participants enjoy the event without any worries.
