Hansita, accused of cheating bizmen, involved in women trafficking: Probe | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Hansita Abhilipsa, facing charges of cheating several businessmen by posing as the daughter of principal secretary to the Prime Minister, P K Mishra, was allegedly trafficking women for prostitution, according to evidence found by the special crime unit (SCU) from her chats on an instant messaging app.
SCU recently lodged a complaint against Hansita at Infocity police station.
Police said she allegedly provided women to several corporate executives to facilitate her business dealings. “Based on the fresh evidence, we recently registered a fresh case against her under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956,” a police officer said.
Three separate cases have been registered against Hansita so far at Infocity police station. She was initially arrested, along with associate Anil Mohanty, on Dec 30 for alleged impersonation and fraud. A second case emerged recently regarding her alleged use of fraudulent documents for getting a passport in 2023.
Police also found inconsistencies in Hansita’s statements regarding her marital status. According to police, Hansita was misleading the investigation by claiming different persons as her husband. “In court, she claimed Anil Mohanty was her husband. After some days, she introduced Manoj Acharya and then Saroj Sahoo as her husband. She made incoherent statements before us and in the court,” the police officer said.
Though Hansita and Anil previously denied all charges against them, police sources revealed the duo allegedly took photographs with influential people, including bureaucrats and politicians, to deceive businessmen by offering to facilitate their work through govt connections. Anil, a resident of Bhubaneswar, worked in mining before meeting Hansita a few years ago. She belongs to Kalahandi district and was involved in rural politics there in 2017.
Their alleged fraud was uncovered following a complaint by a private university’s official on Dec 26, 2024. The complainant reportedly suffered losses in crores after being allegedly trapped by Hansita and Anil.
