Green Election Initiative Falls Short in Boosting Voter Turnout | Mumbai News – Times of India
Mumbai: On Wednesday, voters at many polling booths in Anushakti Nagar and Chembur constituencies received saplings as gifts as part of the green election drive to boost the voting percentage. However, poll officials said, the drive’s impact was limited. In Chembur, the voting improved to 54.9% from 52.2% in 2019, but in Anushakti Nagar, it dropped to 54% from 55.2% in 2019. “We held several meetings with scores of stakeholders, including students, residents and presented street plays and jingles persuading citizens to come out and vote. We saw slight improvement in Chembur, but Anushakti Nagar disappointed us,” said Heera Lal, general observer (elections) for the 2 constituencies. tnn
