Grain ATMs: Odisha to Introduce Grain ATMs, Revolutionizing Distribution of Essential Commodities | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to introduce grain ATMs, a move that promises to revolutionize the distribution of essential commodities among ration card holders. The announcement was made by Krushna Chandra Patra, the minister of food supplies and consumer affairs department.
According to the minister, the implementation of grain ATMs will commence in Bhubaneswar, and will be gradually extended to other regions of the state. The fair price shops across the state will be equipped with these innovative machines, ensuring a seamless and efficient distribution process.
The concept of grain ATMs has already been successfully implemented by the BJP govt in Uttar Pradesh. Under this system, ration card holders are provided with an ATM-like card, which they can swipe at the machines to collect their monthly quota of grains, including rice and wheat.
This will ensure that the benefits reach the intended recipients without any leakages or irregularities.
It is worth noting that the previous BJD govt had also made an announcement regarding introduction of grain ATMs in Odisha back in 2022. However, the plan did not materialize at that time. Now, with the current govt’s renewed focus on this initiative, people can look forward to a more transparent and efficient system for accessing their entitled food grains.
