Govt to set up industrial park, cell for women entrepreneurs | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: An exclusive industrial park for women and a dedicated cell at the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha (IPICOL) to support women entrepreneurs will be set up, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on the concluding day of Utkarsh Odisha — Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 here on Wednesday.
He emphasised the crucial role of women entrepreneurs in driving the state’s economic growth at the ‘Women Business Leaders Roundtable’ at the summit.
“The dream of a developed Odisha will be realised through the economic leadership of women entrepreneurs,” the CM said. Highlighting the achievements of women across various fields, including agriculture, aviation, space and sports, he said, “There has never been any doubt about women’s capabilities or talents, only a lack of the right ‘opportunity’. Women are now leading in all areas, from technology and economy to production and innovation. With the right opportunities, they can perform remarkable work in any chosen field.”
He emphasised the govt’s commitment to empowering women through skill development, education and financial assistance.
“In the coming years, special programmes will be undertaken to provide women with the necessary skills and knowledge for entrepreneurial success. Collaborations with universities and business schools will offer scholarships, internships and leadership programmes that provide educational and practical business experience,” Majhi said.
“State govt is preparing a gender-budgeting proposal, allocating Rs 75,623 crore or 28.5% of the total budget expenditure, exclusively for women,” he said, adding that the Subhadra scheme is a groundbreaking initiative to empower women in Odisha, providing the necessary financial support to start small businesses. The goal is to ensure women’s contribution to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036, he said.
Development commissioner Anu Garg discussed how Odisha is becoming a top state for industrial establishment and the steps being taken by the state govt in this regard.
