Govt to release report card on 1-year performance | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP govt in Odisha is planning to reach out to around 1 crore families in the state with its performance report on the completion of its one year in office on June 12.Disclosing the move, revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari announced on Friday that the govt views it not as an anniversary celebration, but rather as an opportunity to demonstrate its accountability to voters. The minister said the govt fulfilled 11 of the 21 manifesto promises within one year and strives to complete the remaining 10 within another year. “Beyond manifesto promises, we will continue seeking people’s feedback and suggestions for doing more things by keeping the governance process participatory,” he said.Govt sources said there is a plan for one-week activities from June 12 to 18 to mark the Majhi govt’s anniversary. People-connect activities have been planned by the govt and the BJP at the state, district, block and panchayat levels.Pujari said people’s suggestions and active participation are important for a Viksit Odisha vision by its centenary year in 2036 and the key growth engine for Viksit Bharat by its 100 years of Independence in 2047. Pujari said it would be for the first time that any govt in Odisha would approach people with a report card on its anniversary. “Like students rush to their parents after examination with their report card, we will go to the voters to inform them about what we have done in one year,” Pujari told media persons.“People who are voting to elect a govt have a right to know what the govt is doing. Similarly, it is our responsibility to tell them what we have done for them,” he said. Pujari counted the Rs 800 bonus for a quintal of paddy beyond the Centre-decided minimum support price of Rs 2,300, implementation of Subhadra Yojana cash incentive scheme for women, and the rollout of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana in Odisha, among key poll promises implemented by the govt.Pujari said the chief minister’s office is in touch with the Prime Minister’s Office and the Union home minister’s office, trying to get PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, among other central leaders, to be present during the anniversary celebrations.
