Govt to introduce ABHA card for seamless healthcare experience | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Patients visiting state govt hospitals for doctor consultation and treatment will get a 14-digit Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number upon registering their names. The state govt will introduce this facility from Feb under the National Digital Health Mission.
“We will give the ABHA card to people. It will have a person’s health records. After its implementation, patients need not carry their old prescriptions and diagnostic reports every time they visit the hospital. There will be a QR code on the ABHA card, and doctors will be able to know previous health check-up data from that,” health minister Mukesh Mahaling said here on Thursday.
He said the health and family welfare department has started preparation to launch the card next month. “In future, we can link the ABHA card with Ayushman Bharat health card,” he added.
ABHA registration is being done in central govt health institutions like AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Welcoming the decision, Durga Palei, a patient’s attendant from Puri district, said, “Sometimes people forget to bring their old prescriptions and reports while visiting a doctor. Even people misplace the hospital papers. ABHA card will solve that issue now.”
Lochan Sahoo, a patient from Ganjam said his elderly father cannot remember where he kept the reports and prescriptions at home. “Such people need ABHA-type facilities for digital record of patients’ health documents,” Sahoo said.
