Govt schools hold theme-based PTMs | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: Following a directive from the education dept, govt schools in the state hosted parent-teacher meetings (PTM) on Saturday. The meetings, held under the theme “We will read, we will grow, and we will learn,” was aimed to bring together parents, teachers and students to discuss ward’s academic progress, address concerns and strengthen the engagement between parents and school. The parents were also informed about the various resources provided by the govt, including teaching-learning materials (TLMs), kits, textbooks and workbooks.Throughout the day, the teachers welcomed parents in the classrooms and engaged in detailed discussions about each child’s academic progress, attendance, hygiene and behaviour. Classroom boards were decorated with themes and posters with beautiful quotes. Class teachers informed parents about the resources and study materials provided by the govt to the children.Poonam Kumari, headmaster of Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Turhatoli, said, “With 60% of parents attending the meeting, we had productive discussions about creating a dedicated study space and environment at home for children. Reports of monthly exams were shown to the parents, and many were happy to see their child’s progress. We encouraged parents to spend an hour both in the morning and evening to support their children’s studies at home.“Parents were pleased to see the FLN (foundational literacy and numeracy) kits, books and study materials provided by the govt to them. We stressed that the initiatives of the department are fundamentally for their child’s development, therefore it is necessary for them to come forward and support these efforts,” she added.Ajit Kumar Prabhakar, headmaster at Middle School Nargada, said, “Out of approximately 300 students, more than 150 parents attended our PTM. We conducted a theme-based PTM as directed by the dept, focusing on participation of parents in the homework assigned for this summer vacation.” He detailed the meeting’s structure, “Firstly, I addressed all the parents, explaining the theme of the PTM and its significance. Then, I directed them to their respective classrooms where class teachers were present. Parents had to mark their attendance, and if there was any feedback or expectation, they could note it down there. Evaluation reports were also shown.”He further shared one of the parent’s comments which read, “Earlier, we didn’t even know about PTMs. They were limited to private schools, but now so many things are being discussed in PTMs.”
