Govt releases tourism plan for 50 years

Bhubaneswar: To lay the foundation for Odisha’s tourism growth over the next 50 years, the govt on Tuesday released the draft Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines-2025.
The guidelines were discussed during the 6th Odisha Travel Bazaar, where more than 40 adventure tourism operators, travel experts, and enthusiasts from various genres like water sports, aero sports, and terrestrial sports from across India and outside participated and shared their experiences and challenges in growing the sector.
“Odisha stands as the premier destination for adventure sports, offering an array of breathtaking locations, including beaches, dense forests, hills, waterfalls, and more. We are committed to developing these sites, not just for today, but for future generations. We are ready to frame policy guidelines that will ensure that Odisha remains a top destination for adventure and exploration,” said deputy chief minister Pravati Parida, who is also the tourism minister of the state.
The stakeholders discussed regulatory frameworks, strategic pillars, adventure potential destinations, and best practices to promote safe and sustainable adventure tourism in the state.
Director general, ministry of tourism, Mugdha Sinha, said, “Adventure tourism is not just about thrill — it’s about responsible travel, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunities for local communities. Odisha’s vision aligns perfectly with India’s push for diverse tourism experiences, and we are committed to supporting this journey.”
Director of Odisha Tourism Samarth Verma said, “From hot air ballooning to bungee jumping, from kayaking to winch parasailing, Odisha has the right kind of destinations to accommodate every kind of adventure tourism. This workshop is a step towards creating structured guidelines that ensure sustainability, safety, and world-class experiences for adventurers in our state.”
