Govt opens help desk for Nepalese students of KIIT

Bhubaneswar: Higher education department on Wednesday opened a help desk and issued helpline numbers to ensure the safety and security of Nepalese students affected by the incident, as well as their safe return and protection of their academic interests.
The department took serious note of the recent unfortunate incident at KIIT deemed to be university, a private institution, concerning the tragic death of a Nepalese student and subsequent actions by the institution.
Kali Prasanna Mohapatra, director of higher education, will be the nodal officer of the help desk. Rajata Manasingh, deputy director, will assist him. The help desk will be manned by nine personnel, who will attend to the assignment round the clock. The help desk has four landline numbers and a WhatsApp number. It will start functioning with immediate effect, official sources said. All affected students and parents are requested to reach out to the help desk for an early return to the institution for their academic pursuits, officials sources said.
