Govt grabbed BEST land, says Sena UBT – The Times of India

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused the Mahayuti govt of grabbing prime BEST land in the city under the guise of helping BEST financially. In a post on social media platform X on Saturday, the party stated, “Instead of helping BEST, there is a conspiracy to grab prime land. Under the garb of increasing BEST’s revenue, three depots at prime locations are to be given to private agencies.”
At a meeting held on Friday, on how to turn around the ailing BEST’s finances, CM Devendra Fadnavis suggested the transport body consider leasing space with redevelopment of its bus depots at Deonar, Dindoshi, and Bandra. He exhorted the organisation to create its own source of income. “Construction of cinema halls to screen Marathi films at five depots, amd designing commercial and residential spaces and depots, will help generate revenue,” Fadnavis said. He directed BMC to continue supporting BEST. “If 3% of BMC budget is annually reserved for BEST, it will help with the latter’s expenses,” he said.
