Mumbai: Projects approved in the last eight months will attract an investment of Rs 3.3 lakh crore and generate direct and indirect employment for 1.2 lakh people, said governor C P Radhakrishnan in his joint address to the legislature on Monday. He said govt has announced a policy of giving ‘anchor industry’ status to mega projects in thrust and high-tech manufacturing sectors such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, aerospace and defence, chemicals and polymers, lithium iron batteries and steel. Further, govt has announced Information Technology and Information Technology Supported Services Policy and Green Data Centre Policy, which aims to make Mumbai India’s data centre capital. “As part of this policy, a green integrated data centre park will be set up in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, which will bring Rs 1 lakh crore investment and generate employment for 20,000,” said Radhakrishnan. He said 2.3 crore women were covered by the Ladki Bahin scheme and instalments for July-Nov were paid. The scheme will continue, he added. tnn
