Government Teacher and Railway Employee Arrested in Rs 12 Lakh Land Fraud Scheme | Bhubaneswar News
Rourkela: The Jhirpani police arrested a govt school teacher and a railway employee on Sunday night for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 12 lakh in a fraudulent land deal.
The accused, Rohit Tirpathy, a teacher at Sandalki Upper Primary School, Kuanrmunda, and Girija Nandan Satpathy, an employee at Bondamunda station, were arrested following a complaint filed by Sarita Nayak, a resident of Chhend area.
According to the police, Nayak and her late husband had agreed to purchase one acre of land at Riu area in Kuanrmunda for Rs 85 lakh. Tirpathy, who acted as a middleman, arranged the plot owned by Golap Khandayat. An agreement was drafted by advocate Dhiren Gadnayak, with Rs 12 lakh as advance payment and the remaining Rs 73 lakh to be paid within six months.
“The complainant paid Rs 12 lakh as advance to Khandayat and an additional Rs 3 lakh as brokerage to Tirpathy and Gadnayak,” said M Pradhan, SI, Jhirpani police station.
After Kanungo’s death in the pandemic, Tirpathy and Satpathy allegedly conspired with Khandayat to sell the same plot to other buyers. When Nayak demanded the land transfer, they kept delaying the process, prompting her to file an FIR on October 30.
“Khandayat and Gadnayak are absconding,” Pradhan added.
