Rourkela: Odisha will soon get a first-of-its-kind glass floor hanging bridge at Vedvyas Pitha in Rourkela, announced works minister Prithviraj Harichandan during ‘Rourkela Divas’ celebration on Sunday.
The bridge, estimated to cost Rs 34-35 crore, will have a unique glass floor allowing pedestrians to view the river beneath. “The bridge is designed to last for about 100 years and will be the first such structure in the country,” Harichandan said. The foundation stone for the project will be laid in May.
In addition to the hanging bridge, the minister revealed plans to expand Rourkela’s infrastructure. A survey has commenced for constructing a grand ring road connecting Rourkela to Jaleswar. Another 100km ring road around Rourkela is also being planned.
