Girls education trust launched in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda district administration launched the Aswasana Trust on International Women’s Day Saturday to support education of girls, who have lost their primary breadwinners. It was inaugurated by revenue minister Suresh Pujari.
In the first phase, the trust will provide financial assistance to 50 girls from the district. The beneficiaries have been categorized into three groups and will receive a monthly aid of Rs 1,000, Rs 2,000, and Rs 4,000 respectively.
“This unique initiative will help girl children whose mothers are struggling to provide education,” said Pujari, adding that the trust would explore the possibility of extending support for marriage expenses in the future.
The trust, chaired by district collector Aboli Sunil Naravane, includes representatives of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), the district education office, and social activists. MCL has committed to provide the education expenses of the first 50 beneficiaries until Class XII.
“We welcome other industries and private organizations to join this voluntary adoption initiative by approaching the district administration,” said Naravane.
