Chennai: To benefit shoppers thronging Ranganathan Street and those heading to Madley bus terminus in T Nagar, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has constructed an exit ramp right after Ranganathan Street on the one-kilometre Usman Road-CIT Nagar flyover.Once the 130-crore project is completed, vehicles from Kodambakkam heading to T Nagar can use the down ramp here, while those heading straight to Anna Salai can continue on the flyover. This will help in decluttering the Panagal Park junction, as those heading to prime merchandise stores will take the flyover and get down just at the area where the shops are located.“Earlier, vehicles coming from Nungambakkam and Kodambakkam went beneath the Usman Road flyover and crossed Panagal Park to reach the shops. As vehicles from GN Chetty Road, Theagaraya Road, and Venkatnaraya Road all joined here, it caused immense traffic,” said a bridges department official.GCC constructed one more up-ramp at Shiva-Vishnu temple near Madley Junction for vehicles to enter from the bus terminus area. Buses plying to Kodambakkam will use the flyover too.The corporation is yet to connect both the old Usman Road flyover and the new one from CIT Nagar.
