Berhampur: A 28-year-old truck helper from Ganjam district was arrested in Bissam Cuttack, Rayagada, on Wednesday for killing a 54-year-old man at Karada in Kandhamal around seven months ago.
The accused was identified as Ajit Gouda of Sadangipalli near Sheragada. He and truck driver, Amit Patnaik (50), allegedly beat Aditya Samantara to death on Oct 22 last year.
The incident occurred due to a long-standing land dispute between Amit and Aditya, who were neighbours in Karada. Amit was arrested four days after the murder but Ajit had been on the run before he was apprehended.
“Acting on a tip-off, a police team rushed to Bissam Cuttack in Rayagada district on Wednesday and arrested him,” said Suresh Chandra Tripathy, inspector in-charge, Raikia police station.
