Ganjam gets 4th govt dialysis unit in Chhatrapur hosp | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: A dialysis unit was inaugurated at the sub-divisional hospital, Chhatrapur, in Ganjam district, on Sunday by health and family welfare minister Mukesh Mahaling.
The Rs 40-lakh unit established under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme has four beds and will function under the public-private partnership mode. “The centre will ensure high quality and professional care for patients free of cost,” said Mahaling, while hinting that the number of beds will be increased in the future depending upon patient load.
MP (Berhampur) Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy said the inauguration of the unit has come as a huge relief to chronic kidney patients and their families in the area.
“By providing free dialysis services, the unit eases the financial strain on patients and their families allowing them to focus on recovery rather than costs. It also reduces the need for patients to travel to cities like Berhampur, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam for treatment,” he said.
MLA (Chhatrapur) Krushna Chandra Nayak thanked the govt for opening the unit, a long-standing demand of people of the area.
With this unit, dialysis facilities are now available in four major govt-run hospitals in the district, including MKCG Medical College and Hospital, sub-divisional hospitals at Bhanjanagar and Hinjili. According to sources, a dialysis unit will be opened at sub-divisional hospital, Aska.
