Ganja smuggler killed in accident in Subarnapur | Bhubaneswar News

Balangir: A suspected ganja smuggler was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a tree near College chowk in Subarnapur town early Tuesday. Police recovered around 3 kg of ganja from the site.
The victim could not be identified immediately due to severe facial injuries. “The impact was so severe that identifying the deceased’s age and identity has become challenging,” said Ranjit Kumar Sahu, IIC of Subarnapur town police station.
The motorcycle is registered in Chhattisgarh, and police are using the lead to establish contact with the deceased’s family.Preliminary investigation suggests he was trafficking ganja from Boudh district to Chhattisgarh.
“We believe the accused was attempting to evade police patrol by speeding through the town,” Sahu added.
The body has been transferred to the local morgue for post-mortem scheduled for Wednesday. Police sources said that smugglers frequently use Subarnapur town as a transit route for trafficking contraband from Boudh district to neighbouring states.
