Bengaluru: A 30-year-old fruit vendor was arrested on charges of raping a teenage girl in Majestic last week. The accused is G Sunil Kumar from Bangarpet. Police said Sunil befriended the 15-year-old girl, who had left home after a fight with her mother and reached the city in search of a job last week.
Promising to help her, Sunil, who lives in a paying guest accommodation in Upparpet, took her to different places, including Tirupati, and developed a physical relationship with her. Meanwhile, the girl’s mother filed a missing-person complaint with Bengaluru police Saturday, and cops traced the two to Tirupati Monday.
The missing complaint has turned into a Pocso case, an investigating officer said.
