Hyderabad: Govt advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday said fresh tenders will be invited to lease out Garden View Mall, the Waqf Board-owned complex adjacent to Haj House, in Nampally.A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by Shabbir Ali at the secretariat. Waqf Board CEO Md Asadullah and other senior officials attended. The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Haj pilgrimage. The seven-storey structure, built with two basement levels and a total built-up area of 1.65 lakh square feet, would be leased out, and income generated from it would be used for the welfare and development of the minority community. After reviewing arrangements being made for the Haj pilgrimage, Shabbir Ali said chief minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to formally flag off the batch of pilgrims from Haj House on May 16.The meeting also discussed a long-standing concern raised by Muharram Juloos organisers regarding the unavailability of an elephant, a tradition historically fulfilled by the Nizam Trust.Earlier, the elephant was housed in the Hyderabad Zoo and used during religious processions. Following its death, organisers have struggled to maintain the custom. The meeting explored the possibility of govt intervention, including the potential purchase of an elephant. The issue was now under discussion with the forest department, Zoo officials, and wildlife authorities. The Waqf Board CEO has been directed to convene a meeting to find a permanent solution.Shabbir Ali reiterated the Congress govt’s commitment to rejuvenating waqf properties and fulfilling promises made to the Muslim community. He said all pending projects would be completed with transparency.
