Chhapra: To provide both entertainment and medical support to visitors at the Sonepur Mela, the administration has arranged free medical check-ups for tuberculosis (TB). Visitors will also receive TB awareness through slogans and banners, helping to protect them from the disease.
“As per the plan, the medical team posted at the Mela will also collect samples from people showing symptoms at the health department’s camp,” Saran civil surgeon Dr Sagar Dulal Sinha said.
Dr Ratneshwar Prasad Singh, the district’s chief development officer (DCDO) for TB, highlighted the effort to educate visitors about TB, dispelling misinformation and providing essential information about its spread.
“We hope that this initiative by the health department will enhance the historical and mythological significance of this ancient Mela,” Dr Singh added.
“Loss of appetite and weight, weakness, persistent fever and a continuous cough with blood are some important symptoms,” Dr Singh said.
