Patna: The fourth accused in the Atal Path hit-and-run case at the state capital surrendered in Patna civil court on Wednesday. Accused Ankur Kumar, alias Ankush, was subsequently sent to jail.Constable Komal Kumari (25), a resident of Nalanda, who was deployed with the Dial-112 emergency service, had died and two other cops were injured in the incident, they were on a vehicle-checking drive on Atal Path in Sri Krishna Puri police station area on the night of June 11. Komal succumbed to her injuries during treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital on June 12. The two other officers — sub-inspector (SI) Deepak Kumar and assistant SI Awdesh Kumar — are currently undergoing treatment, police said.Sri Krishna Puri station house officer (SHO) Pankaj Kumar said the fourth accused fled after hitting the on-duty police personnel. “Patna police were conducting continuous raids to arrest him. Finally, due to the police’s relentless efforts, Ankur surrendered,” he said, adding that an FIR was filed in the matter against four people. “Two of them were arrested on the same day, while the third one was arrested two days later. Further investigation is ongoing in the matter,” the SHO said.
