Chennai: Four people, found in possession of drug tablets, were arrested in Marina and Ramapuram police station limits in the city on Friday. At least 630 drug tablets were seized from them.
A police team from Ramapuram police station nabbed E Aashique alias Aamosh, 21, of Thirumudivakkam, and P Kalaiselvan alias Meshak, 24, of Porur, for the possession of 100 Tapendadol tablets used as painkillers. Police said Aashique was involved in a murder case reported in Kundrathur police limits, while Kalaiselvan was involved in two drug tablet cases.
In another incident reported in Marina, the team nabbed S Ghouse Batcha, 20, of Besant Nagar for the possession of 225 Topcynta tablets and a mobile phone. Based on his statement, the team arrested L Santhosh, 18, of Royapettah. Police seized 305 drug tablets, Rs 1.2 lakh in cash, a knife, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler from him. Police said Ghouse Batcha was involved in seven cases, including a Ganja smuggling case, and Santhosh was involved in one criminal case.
The four arrested suspects were remanded in judicial custody.
