Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested four undergraduate students of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Patna and one middleman, Surendra Kumar, from Patna for their alleged involvement in solving the questions of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG, 2024.
“They were produced in the special CBI court that remanded them in four-day custody of the probe agency.The MBBS students were earlier detained on Wednesday for questioning, while the liner was picked up on Thursday. All of them were formally arrested on Thursday,” said an official.
An investigating team also searched the rooms of the 2021 and 2022-batch medical students at the hostel of AIIMS-Patna and confiscated their laptops and cellphones.
Sources familiar with the matter said, “The CBI suspected second-year student Karan Jain from Araria, Siwan’s Chandan Singh, Patna’s Kumar Sanu, and Dhanbad (Jharkhand)’s Rahul Anand — all third-year students — helped solve the NEET-UG questions, which was later given to the medical aspirants before the exam. The students were allegedly kept in a hotel to solve the question paper.”
