Former Mukhiya Shot Dead in Tender Dispute | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: Unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals shot dead Jitender Singh, former mukhiya of Mahnagni panchayat under Majhauliya block in West Champaran district near Banuchhapar eastern railways crossing late on Monday night. At least seven criminals fired 18-19 times on Singh. Police said dispute over a tender could be the reason behind the killing.
The incident took place while Singh was returning to his home in Dev Nagar after finishing his work around 9.20pm on Monday night. Seven criminals riding motorbikes shot him about 800 meters away from his house after which Singh died on the spot, police said.
Bettiah SP Amarkesh D, Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep and Banuchhapar SHO reached the spot along with FSL team and dog squad. The SDPO said the probe so far has revealed that dispute over a tender could be the reason behind the murder. “The police have picked up a person and are interrogating him,” he said.
Demanding arrest of the accused, his family members and relatives after the incident refused to get the postmortem of the body done.
However, after being convinced by the SDPO, the family allowed the police to send the body for autopsy.
