Forester and Contract Employee Arrested for Embezzling Over Rs 10 Lakh in Jeypore | Bhubaneswar News
Koraput: Vigilance officials on Monday arrested Ramesh Chandra Bhatra, a forester from Bagaderi section under Kundra forest range in Jeypore forest division, and Mahendra Khara, a contractual employee from Dangarapalli village under Kundra block, for allegedly embezzling Rs 10,60,150 in govt funds.
The funds were allocated for constructing a cattle proof trench, according to officials.
A press release said that the arrests followed an investigation into the misappropriation of funds. The accused were subsequently forwarded to the court of the special judge (vigilance) in Jeypore.
“Investigation reveals that the duo misappropriated the allocated funds during the trench execution, leading to financial losses to the govt,” read the release.
Further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details regarding the alleged mismanagement of funds, officials added.
