Food vlogger found hanging in hostel in city | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday recovered the body of a 26-year-old woman, a popular food vlogger, from a ladies’ hostel in Patia’s Adarsh Vihar area here. The deceased was identified as Sonali Sanghamitra Parida, a native of Patkura in Kendrapada district.
Police said she was staying in the city for the past four years and worked in a real estate firm at Baramunda. In her spare time, she was involved in food vlogging.
Sources said the caretaker of the hostel noticed Sonali hanging inside a washroom. Upon being informed, Infocity police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. Police also deployed a forensic to collect evidence from the scene.
Family members suspected foul play in Sonali’s death. They claimed that Sonali was a cheerful girl and could never take such an extreme step. They alleged she might have been murdered.
“She used to call me every day. On Sunday, when she didn’t call, I tried to contact her, but she didn’t respond. Then a call came from the hostel saying that my daughter was in a critical condition,” said the father of the deceased.
He said that when they arrived at the hostel on Monday, police took them to the washroom where Sonali was found hanging. “How can one hang oneself in the washroom?” asked the father.
Police have registered an unnatural death case and are also investigating the allegations made by her family members. “We have not received any suicide note,” a police officer said.
DCP (Bhubaneswar), Pinak Mishra, said the police would investigate the case from every possible angle. “Things will become clear after completion of the investigation,” he said.
