Mumbai: Customs officers at the city airport seized 1.257 kg of 24-karat gold valued at Rs 91.43 lakh. The gold was recovered in two separate cases involving passengers arriving from Ras Al-Khaimah and Bangkok.
The seizures included crude gold dust concealed in wax and crude gold chains, smuggled using innovative methods. One passenger had hidden the gold inside his body cavity, while others concealed it inside socks and shoes. TNN
