Floodwaters enter villages in West Champaran and Gopalganj districts | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: The floodwaters of the Gandak river entered around 24 villages of Yogapatti and Beria blocks in West Champaran district on Tuesday.
At the same time, around 32 villages in Gopalganj district continued to reel under floodwaters of the Gandak river in its lower reaches in Gopalganj district. The river was flowing 90 cm above the danger mark at Dumariaghat in the district.It is expected that the floodwaters will recede on Wednesday due to fall in the water level of the river, said Central Water Commission’s flood bulletin.
In West Champaran district, the flood situation was accentuated due to heavy rains in some of the catchment areas of the Gandak river in Nepal on Monday.
“The flood situation in Yogapatti and Beria blocks is very bad. Not much help is reaching from the district administration,” alleged BJP MLA Vinay Bihari after taking stock of the situation.
The flood situation is likely to persist in West Champaran and Gopalganj districts, as moderate to heavy rains were received in the catchment areas of Gandak in Nepal. The Pokahara area received 114.68 mm rainfall on Tuesday, water resources department flood bulletin said.
