Fire at e-scooter showroom damages property worth Rs 10L | Bhubaneswar News
Berhampur: A fire at an electric scooter showroom along NH-59 here early Friday damaged property worth over Rs 10 lakh.
Three old scooters were completely burned, while seven electric vehicles sustained partial damage. No casualty was reported as the showroom was closed.
“The damaged vehicles were in the showroom for repair and servicing,” said Pradeep Kumar Patnaik, officer in-charge, Berhampur fire station. Preliminary investigations suggests an electrical short-circuit may have triggered the fire, although the exact cause is still under investigation.
Locals alerted authorities after spotting smoke rising from the two-storey building. Three fire tenders were sent to the spot. “It took our team around 90 minutes to bring the fire under control,” Patnaik said.
Firefighters encountered difficulties due to the heavy smoke which hampered visibility. The blaze temporarily disrupted traffic on NH-59, prompting police to implement traffic management measures.
