The charges relate to endangering national sovereignty and publishing misleading information that jeopardizes India’s security.
Advocate Ram Hari Pujhari (42), the primary complainant, along with members of BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, and BJP‘s legal cell, claimed Gandhi’s remarks during the inauguration of Congress Party’s new headquarters in Delhi on Jan 15 exceeded the boundaries of free speech.
“Rahul Gandhi consistently targets BJP and links RSS with terrorist organizations without evidence. We demand strict action to prevent him from making such unnecessary statements for political gains,” said Pujhari, a Sarbahal resident. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Responding to the allegations, local Congress leader Amita Biswal defended Gandhi, saying, “He merely stated that BJP is controlled by a single organization. This issue is being unnecessarily politicized. In a democracy, everyone has the right to express their opinion.”
