Mumbai: A real estate agent has lodged a police complaint against a BEST bus driver for assaulting him with an iron rod and verbally abusing him following an altercation at Borivli on Thursday. Borivli police has registered an FIR. The 56-year-old complainant had gone to the Shatabdi Hospital at Kandivli on Thursday for an eye checkup. He boarded bus number 203 outside the hospital to meet his friend near Borivli tehsilddar’s office. Between 1.45pm and 2pm, he was travelling in the bus and requested the driver to halt the bus on S V Road near the tehsildar office signal. This wasn’t a designated halt and the driver refused.Shortly, a woman passenger approached the driver with the same request. The driver heeded her request and opened the door for her. The complainant was miffed as to why hadn’t the driver heeded his request. He got off the bus.The two then had an argument. The driver threatened to hit him at which the complainant said he could do whatever he wanted. At this, the driver allegedly picked up an iron rod from the bus and hit the complainant on his left elbow. The conductor tried to calm him down but the driver dared the complainant to complain against him. He then left in the bus. tnn
