MUMBAI: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar attended the Ramzan-Eid ration distribution of activist Haji Mudassar Patel at Anjuman-I-Isam’s Dr Ishaque Jamkhanawala Girls High School and Junior College in Bandra West.
So far, Patel, through his YAMA Foundation and World Memon Organisation (WMO)’s India chapter, has distributed over 10,000 Ramzan ration kits in the holy month.
“Ramzan is a sacred month of blessings and I feel fortunate to have attended this beautiful programme of ration distribution in this month. I admire Mudassar Patel’s efforts to reach out to the needy. He has been doing it for the last many years and I am glad I could be part of it,” said Bhandarkar.
Patel said the purpose of distributing Eid kits among the needy parents of the Bandra school was to bring happiness to them. He thanked the Anjuman president Padmashree Dr Zahir Kazi, principal Saba Patel and acting principal Shabana Coatwala and other staff members of the school for their cooperation.
Calling upon the Muslims to celebrate Eid with gaiety, Patel also warned against breaking any rules while people celebrate the festival.
“Follow the government guidelines and instructions of the police. Do not engage in confrontation with the he cops or members of other communities. Celebrate your festival and spread the joy and happiness,” he said.
Talking about his initiative of arranging and distribution of Ramzan and Eid kits, Patel said each kit carried 22 kgs of ration and other essential goods for preparation nutritious food.
Items include:10 kg rice, 5 kg wheat flour, 1kg toor dal, 1 kg masoor dal,1 Kg sugar, 1 packet khajoor of 500gm, 1 packet tea powder of 250 gm,1 liter edible oil, 1 bottle rose shabbat of 700ml.
“One kit is enough for 15 days for a family of five,” he said.
