Chennai: A 60-year-old man, the father-in-law of a rowdy named ‘Vandu’ Mani, who murdered a mobile fruit vendor, Raja, on Eldams Road in Teynampet, hacked an autorickshaw driver, suspecting him of being an informant to police. The injured man was admitted to the hospital.
Police said they arrested Devan, who sells watermelon on the platform in Teynampet.
He picked up a quarrel with the autorickshaw driver, Anbalagan, 56, of Tiruvalluvar Street in Teynampet and attacked him with a knife.
Teynampet police registered a case and arrested Devan. He was remanded in judicial custody. Further investigations are on.
