Patna: A 21-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father in the state capital, police said. The accused was taken into police custody on Sunday after an FIR was registered with the local police station.
SDPO-I, Sadar (Patna), Abhinav, said the police on Sunday received information from various sources and social media sites about a 21-year-old girl accusing her father of sexually assaulting her. “She also claimed that she was not being allowed to leave the house. Taking note of the incident, the girl and her mother were brought to the police station, and a case was registered based on the victim’s statement,” he said.
“During questioning, the girl revealed that her father had previously raped her as well. The girl was sent for a medical examination, and her statement will be recorded before the magistrate on Monday. Meanwhile, a special team was formed on the instruction of the Patna SSP, and the accused was promptly arrested. He will be presented in court on Monday, and further legal action is being taken,” the SDPO told reporters on Sunday.
According to the victim, she came to Patna in March from Ranchi, where she studies in a premier institute. She was raped by her father in June but she did not share the incident with anyone out of fear. The police said the girl’s mother also knew about the incident, and she was not allowed to leave the house. On December 13, the she was again raped by her father, the victim said in her statement.
