Man shot dead over land dispute in Muzaffarpur

Patna: A 50-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his son and neighbour over a land dispute in the Sahebganj police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. The criminals fled after committing the crime.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as 65-year-old Harihar Bhagat, a resident of Pakri Basat village. He was running a poultry farm business. Five empty bullet shells were recovered from the murder spot. Harihar had a land dispute with a neighbour, who is also a relative of the deceased.
Rural SP Vidyasagar said, “Poultry farm operator Harihar received multiple bullet injuries, leading to his death on the spot. The incident stemmed from a previous land dispute. Based on the family’s statement, several people have been made accused, including the deceased’s 35-year-old younger son, Balendra Bhagat. The police are investigating all aspects and proceeding with the case. The body was taken into custody and sent to Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.”
According to the FIR, Harihar was having a land dispute with his neighbour, Anil Kumar, who is an advocate by profession. Harihar had three sons. His youngest son, Balendra, also had some dispute with him over ancestral property distribution. Balendra is living in a separate house with his wife and children. Balendra and Anil both associated and committed the crime.
