Prayagraj: Four people, including two members of a family, were arrested by a joint team of SOG and Industrial Area Police on Tuesday night on the charges of killing a 16-year-old girl. The arrested individuals were identified as Subedar Patel alias Dhoni, Alok Patel alias Nane, Vijay Bahadur Patel alias Babul Kumar Patel, and Manjita Devi, residents of Nainua village.
Police said Manjita Devi, on the morning of Oct 13, lodged a missing complaint for her daughter. Later in the evening, her body was found near Bendo Dam. After conducting investigation and scanning CDR reports, police on Tuesday arrested the mother and her son (Subedar Patel) along with two others for allegedly strangling the girl to death.
Police said that Subedar was against her sister’s relation with a boy and had asked her to stop talking to him, but she was adamant. In a fit of rage, the brother, along with his mother, strangled his sister to death near Bendo Dam area and later made a futile attempt to misguide the police.
